So your garden produced an overabundance of rather large zucchini this year. Your neighbor has so many tomatoes they’re rotting on the vine. What to do? Unloading excess produce on your neighbors is always a nice idea, but maybe you don’t know many of your neighbors, or what goodies they have rotting in their backyards.
Well a few clever Albany residents have started two ways to share with your neighbors, receive some of Albany’s bounty, and reduce waste. Forage Albany is developing an Edible Map of Albany, encouraging neighbors to share their produce. Local Garden Swap meets weekly (May-October) near the BART tracks. Give and take.
