Business Licenses can be paid online!
Starting on January 2, 2024, the City of Albany partnered with Avenu Insights & Analytics to issue and maintain business licenses through an online portal. Updating accounts and making payments online will provide the flexibility to manage your account at your convenience.
For all businesses that would like to pay online, please follow the direct link to the Avenu portal at https://Albany.bizlicenseonline.com to get started.
- File online at: https://Albany.bizlicenseonline.com
- First time users to the site, click SIGN UP, then Business Account.
- Complete User Information fields to create a username and password. Store your password securely.
- Select a secret question for security purposes.
- Upon completion of the above, select if your business is “New” or is a “Renewal”.
- Renewals: Enter account number provided to your business by Avenu, and your business name exactly as shown on your notice from Avenu. You will subsequently be able to access your online account. Note: Do not use your City of Albany customer number to create your online account.
- New applicants: You will need to register your business to generate an Avenu account number. Follow all prompts, and you will eventually be provided a checkbox to confirm your business is new to receive an Avenu account number.
- To access and manage your online account in the future, you will need to provide your username and password. For set-up assistance and account support, please contact Avenu directly at muniblsupport@avenuinsights.com or 1(866) 240-3665.
If there is missing information from your account profile that is required to be updated, you will be prompted for completion. Otherwise, you are ready to file!
Current holders of Albany business licenses should have received information by mail from Avenu in preparation for the January date. The outreach directs business owners to the new online portal where licenses can be updated, closed, or paid. New business license applicants needing a license for the 2023 calendar year, as well as all 2024 licenses will be processed by Avenu.

For those that would like to pay their business licenses in person, visit us at City Hall – Finance Department, 1000 San Pablo Avenue:
- Monday – Thursday
- 8:30am – 12:00pm; 1:00pm – 5:00pm
- Friday

For this year, the deadline has been extended through June 30, 2024, to allow our businesses extra time to renew business licenses.
