Albany High SchoolEducation: Education is a high priority to the residents of the City of Albany. Year after year, the Albany Unified School District (AUSD) achieves some of the highest academic test scores throughout the state and certainly in the Bay Area. In state academic ranking, Albany schools consistently place in the 90th percentiles. The Albany Unified School District operates one high school, one middle school, three elementary schools, and one continuation high school.

The community is very supportive of education, and in recent years voters have approved several bond measures for renovation or construction of new school facilities, and to support and enhance school programs. Ocean View Elementary School and the new Albany Middle School opened in September 1999. Albany High School opened its new facility in 2001, and in 2007, significant upgrades to play fields and parks were completed.

Private Schools: There is one private high school located within the City limits of Albany, 
Saint Mary’s College High School

Universities and Colleges: Albany is located adjacent to the University of California at Berkeley and to Berkeley City College. A variety of other higher education opportunities abound, including Contra Costa Community CollegeMills CollegeLaney CollegeHoly Names University and others.
