2024-2025 Friendship Club 

Friendship Club is an afterschool oasis where children are nurtured, respected, and create their own community within our walls. Our program activities are driven by the needs, interests, and conundrums of the children. We allow children to learn and grow through play.

• NEW!!! Friendship Club has two sites:
  • Ocean View Park, 900 Buchanan Street (Ocean View Elementary)
  • Memorial Park, 1331 Portland Avenue (Cornell and Marin Elementary)

• After-School Program Dates: August 14th - June 4th
  • Friendship Club operates during Albany Unified School District instructional days. 

• AUSD Bell Schedule: Next year, elementary schools will no longer use an early bird/late bird schedule. There will be a uniform schedule for Grades 1–5.
  • 8:30am – 3:05pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • 8:30am – 1:45pm (Wednesday)

• Tuition: Monthly tuition is based on the 3:05pm release time.  

• Program Hours: 3:05pm –6 pm

• Fees:  $465/month -August and December will be billed at 50%, June will not be billed.

The City of Albany has the right to cancel Friendship Club at any time due to safety and/or health concerns, updated shelter in place orders or direct decisions by City management.

Submitting an application does not guarantee your enrollment in the 2024-2025 Friendship Club afterschool program. Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, and space allowing. You will be contacted within 48 business hours after submitting the application.

 

NEW THIS YEAR! Cornell and Marin students will be at the Memorial Park site, 1331 Portland Avenue. They will have access to the two classrooms, outdoor gated area, play structure, tennis courts, and field. 

Ocean View students will be at the Ocean View Park site, 900 Buchanan Street. They will have access to the two classrooms, baseball field, tennis/pickleball courts, play structure, and the redwood grove.

Children are picked up by Friendship Club staff at their elementary schools. Once the groups of children are checked in to the program, they will walk to either Ocean View Park or Memorial Park and start their after-school fun. 

Our Friendship Club sites are within walking distance from all Albany Elementary Schools. Staff will accompany and direct children safely through predetermined routes.

 

Children will have the opportunity to enjoy arts, science, the environment, engineering, and outside play, while the staff employs developmentally appropriate practices when deciding on the daily activities. We also have a designated homework time for those who would like to work on assignments while at Friendship Club.
