Albany Paratransit Services
The City of Albany Paratransit is funded with Measure BB Funds, administered by the Alameda County Transportation Commission. Albany Paratransit provides transportation alternatives to qualified Albany residents and to people with disabilities 18 years and over. Enrollment is required to use Albany Paratransit Services. A Non-ADA application for the Paratransit Programs in Alameda County must be completed and submitted with required documentation to the Albany Senior Center before using the Taxi Program, Shopping Trips and Senior Shuttle.

Shopping Trips
The Shopping program provides door-to-door service from home to nearby stores and is available to Albany residents ages 60 and over, as well as residents 18 and over who have a disability or disabling condition that prevents them from using public transportation or driving a car. Trips are offered on Thursday and Friday mornings. Call the Senior Center at 1 + (510) 524-9122 the day before, by noon, to schedule your pick-up.
Taxi Program
The Albany Paratransit Program provides subsidies for taxi, Uber, and Lyft rides for Albany residents ages 70 and over, as well as residents 18 and over who have a disability or disabling condition that prevents them from using public transportation or driving a car. Those in this program are reimbursed by the City of Albany up to 80% per ride taken or up to $25, whichever is least. Riders can call Uber, Lyft, or a taxi 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
East Bay Paratransit Services
East Bay Paratransit, the largest paratransit provider in Alameda County, provides ADA-mandated transportation for people who are unable to use AC Transit buses or BART trains because of a disability or a disabling health condition. Service is available in the same area where BART and AC Transit operate: from Richmond or Pinole in the North, to Fremont in the South, and to the Pleasanton/Dublin BART station in the East. Separate registration is required for this program.
ADA Paratransit
ADA Paratransit became mandated in 1990 when the Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted. It is a parallel service to fixed-route buses and trains. This means paratransit services operate in the same area, on the same days, and during the same hours as fixed-route public transit operates. This service may be provided on small buses, vans, taxis, or in sedans. It is generally a shared ride service that must be reserved at least one day in advance.
