The Buchanan Marin Bikeway Phase III consists of extending the bicycle lanes on Marin Avenue from Cornell Avenue to San Pablo Avenue, completing the gap in the bicycle network and connecting the Ohlone Greenway and the Bay Trail. Please see plans here.  In order to stay within budget the project was split in two phases: Phase III includes all the improvements east of San Pablo Avenue, and Phase IV entails the improvements west of San Pablo Avenue.

In 2012, the City received a Bicycle Transportation Account Grant in the amount of $616,000 for design and construction of the Phase III. In 2013, the City received another grant for the construction of the project in the amount of $535,000 from Measure B funds to close the funding gap for construction. Other funds include the Transportation Development Act funds (TDA) and Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) administered by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD).

The Buchanan Marin Bikeway Phase III is being implemented in coordination with the Marin Utility Undergrounding Project.

The City issued a request for Construction bids for the second time  in January 2017 for the new Phase III only.  Construction was awarded to Ghilotti Construction Company in May 2017.  Construction officially started on June 12, 2017. The project is complete.
