On Friday, December 9th 2022, at approximately 11:41 pm the Albany Police Communications Center started to receive calls about gunshots in the area of Portland Ave and Cornell Ave.  Albany Police officers responded to the area to investigate.  The suspect ran from officers and a perimeter was set up with the assistance of neighboring agencies in the area of the 600 block of Spokane and Key Route Boulevard.  Shortly before 2:00am the suspect surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without incident.  The firearm was recovered and no one was injured in the shooting.

The suspect, an adult male twenty years of age from the city of Berkeley was transported to the Santa Rita Jail and booked for attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, robbery, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, child abuse with possibility of great bodily injury or death, resisting arrest and false identification to police. 

The shooting stemmed from a family dispute and no additional information is available at this time.
