(Consent Calendar items are considered to be routine by the Commission/Committee/Board and will be enacted by one motion. By approval of the Consent Calendar, the staff recommendations will be adopted unless otherwise modified by the Commission/Committee. There will be no separate discussion on these items unless a Commission/Committee/Board Member or a member of the audience requests removal of the items from the Consent Calendar.)

3-1 Approval of pension payments for the month of September 2008 in the amount of $111,069.65.

Staff recommendation: Approve

4. PUBLIC COMMENT

For persons desiring to address the Commission/Committee/Board on an item that is not on the agenda please note that each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. The Brown Act limits the Committee’s ability to take and/or discuss items that are not on the agenda; therefore, such items are normally referred to staff for comment or to a future agenda.

5. DISCUSSIONS AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON MATTERS RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

5-1 Approval of invoice from the City of Albany in the amount of $1,863.60 for City Administrative services for the month of September, 2008

Staff recommendation: Approve

5-2 Chair and Finance & Administrative Services Director regarding need to perform interim actuarial analysis of fund.

Staff recommendation: Authorize the Pension Board Chair/City Treasurer to enter into an agreement with Buck Consultants to perform an actuarial analysis of the fund at a cost not to exceed $3,000.00

5-3 Finance & Administrative Services Director giving status report on discussion with Wurts & Associates regarding further diversification of portfolio.

Staff recommendation: No recommendation

6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMUNICATIONS

6-1 The regular Pension Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday October 28, 2008 has been cancelled due to lack of quorum.

6-2 A special meeting of the Pension Board has been scheduled for Thursday October 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Edith Stone Room, 1247 Marin Avenue.

7. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS

(Commission/Committee/Board Member announcement of requests for future agenda items. No public comment will be taken on announcement of future agenda items).
