Library Board Recommendation: The Library Advisory Board voted unanimously to recommend approval of the Contract.

8-1. Resolution No. 2012-34, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Albany urging the University of California, Berkeley, and its College of Natural Resources to establish space on the Gill Tract where the Albany schools and community can participate in gardening education and/or farming.

8-2. Direction to the City of Albany Sustainability Committee to prioritize implementing the “Green Albany” Plan identified in the Climate Action Plan.

Staff recommendation: That Council provide direction to the City’s Sustainability Committee to prioritize implementing the “Green Albany” Plan identified in the Climate Action Plan, including a public planning process that involves interested parties, to evaluate potential growing sites within the City, including the Gill Tract, for additional community gardens and urban agricultural activities, with an initial report back to Council in two to four months.
