Traffic & Safety Commission Meeting: Thursday, May 24, 2012, 7pm, Albany City Council Chambers: 1000 San Pablo Avenue, Albany, CA.
This meeting will include discussion of permit parking at 1000 block of Washington, speed hump at 900 block of Cerrito, report on Tech Transfer Program, Complete Street Technical Advisory Committee, report on Bike to School Day, Bike to Work Day, and the Bike Rodeo.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT - For persons desiring to address the Commission on an item that is not on the agenda please note that each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. The Brown Act limits the Committee’s ability to take and/or discuss items that are not on the agenda; therefore, such items are normally referred to staff for comment or to a future agenda.

6. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON MATTERS RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

6-1 Discussion of findings on the Parking Analysis conducted by City staff in regard to the Permit Parking Request at 1000 block of Washington Avenue between Adams and Madison Streets.

Recommended Action: That the Traffic and Safety Commission recommend to the City Council that action on the proposed application be denied based on evaluation criteria required by the Municipal Code, and direct staff to identify residential permit parking boundaries that would more closely meet the evaluation criteria and benefit a larger number of residents in the neighborhood.
2012-05-24 TS 6-2 Washington Parking

6-2 Speed Hump Request on the 900 block of Cerrito Street.

Recommended Action: Receive report and approve request for either one or two speed humps, pending engineering advice.

6-3 Report on application to the Tech Transfer Program at UC Berkeley for the parking analysis on Washington Avenue from Cerrito to Pierce Street.

Recommended Action: For information only

6-4 Designation of one representative of the Traffic and Safety Commission to the Complete Streets Technical Advisory Committee

Recommended Action: Designate one member of the Commission to attend the TAC for the Complete Streets planning effort.

6-5 Report on Bike to School Day, Bike to Work Day, and Bike Rodeo.

Recommended Action: For information only


7. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMUNICATIONS

7-1 Invitation to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) Parking Workshop on June 12, 9 AM to Noon at MTC.

8. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS (Commission announcements or requests for future agenda items. No public comment will be taken on announcement of future agenda items).
