The City of Albany will be holding a series of roundtable meetings over a three-day period to engage the public in a discussion about community identity (“branding”). The City has hired Arnett Muldrow, a consultant firm specializing in community branding that has assisted cities across the country in similar endeavors. This process works to distill the City’s uniqueness, values and future goals into an image (logo) and slogan that can be used as an economic development tool to attract and retain businesses and attract visitors to the City for recreation, shopping and services. Ultimately, this project will provide a consistent image and theme for gateway and commercial signage, and for marketing purposes. This project is being paid for with redevelopment funds.
Involvement of residents, business owners, investors, visitors and other stakeholders is critical to this effort and the general public is invited to share their ideas, values and visions. The FAQ describes this process and lists the schedule of events. For further information, contact Angelina Harrison at (510) 528-5766 or email Angelina.
