Sustainability Committee - Public Education Subcommittee Meeting

1. CALL TO ORDER

2. PUBLIC COMMENT
For persons desiring to address the subcommittee on an item that is not on the agenda please note that each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. The Brown Act limits the subcommittee’s ability to take and/or discuss items that are not on the agenda; therefore, such items are normally referred to staff for comment or to a future agenda.

3. DISCUSSIONS ON MATTERS RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
The subcommittee will discuss the following items. Any recommendations/findings will be provided to the Sustainability Committee for review and action.
a. Discuss development of educational posts for Albany Patch on selected topics, with resources of how readers can take action (can also post to City web & cable)

b. Discuss development of two public education projects based on the “seasonal themes”. Examples include:
• City’s residential energy efficiency rebate program ($600 rebate) – neighbor: neighbor basis, block captains – block challenge, coordinate with other related organizations (Carbon Neutral Albany/Transition Albany, e-trees).
• Library displays on environmental themes.
• Solar lease opportunities for homes.
• Potential bill inserts (garbage bills) & web/cable/city buildings
