The City of Albany Recreation & Community Services Department invites you to attend the 4th of July Green, Red, White & Blue Celebration in Memorial Park. By "Green", we mean our goal is to have a zero-waste event , using compostable plates & utensils and by recycling cans & paper goods, etc.
Start off your 4th of July with the Annual Dog Jog & Walk! Bring out the Pooch for a 4K jog/walk that starts at Memorial Park, winds through the Ohlone Greenway and finishes at Memorial Park. Participants receive a "doggie Bag", refreshments and a "Picture with Pooch. Register by June 18th and get a free event T-shirt!
After the Dog Jog, stop by the Albany Lion's Pancake Breakfast in the Veterans Memorial Building. They will be serving up breakfast from 8:00-11:00 am.
The 4th of July event begins at 11:00 am and will end at 4:00 pm. On the main stage this year will be music by JimBo Trout and the Fishpeople, Reptile Show by the East Bay Vivarium, the Annual Pugnacious Pet Show and Albany Lion's Watermelon Eating Contest.
Start growing that mustache or beard (or make one at home!) the Mustache and Beard Contest will take the stage again this year at 2:15. Prizes given for the natural and unnatural!
Kids can purchase a Fun Band for $4 that gets them unlimited use of the Huge Climbing Wall, Jump House, Games, Dunk Tank, Pony Rides and new this year the Mechanical Bull!
Make sure you are ready for the Family Games-3-legged races, egg toss, sack races. Be sure to catch a few innings of the Vintage Baseball Game out on the ball field!
