Friends of Albany Parks Clean-up & Planting - Codornices Creek

Friends of Albany Parks Logo

The Clean-up (Beginning at 9am)

The Friends of Albany Parks will host a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Codornices Creek. The Friends of Albany Parks program encourages community members to get involved with the care, maintenance and beautification of Codornices Creek. There will be litter removal and weeding projects, as well as a planting of species native to the East Bay. The Planting is co-sponsored by Friends of Five Creeks, an all-volunteer citizens group that believes the health of creeks and watersheds supports the health of urban environments. Those who attend and volunteer their time  will receive an official Friends of Albany Parks T-shirt.

Community Discussion (Beginning at Noon)

Once the clean-up is complete, we gather together for a community discussion geared toward developing ideas for further park improvement and getting residents consistently involved in the maintenance. The Community Discussion helps foster a better sense of community and build social capital as neighbors meet and work together.
