Sundance. Cannes. ALBANY!

10AM -10PM Sunday, March 24, 2019 | Albany Twin Theatre

The 9th Annual Albany FilmFest is proud to present an eclectic mix of submitted and curated films. Each year our submitted short film selections serendipitously seem to reflect the mood of the world. This year’s pervading themes were about hope, diversity, family, connections, and very human storytelling. These documentaries, dramas, comedies, and animated films come to us from independent
filmmakers in the Bay Area, the US, Canada, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. As always, we close out the Sunday show with films by filmmakers with a personal connection to Albany.
Our curated shorts and features include most of this year’s evening presentations, including Father K and Adios Amor, about two social activists; Symphony for Nature and Beyond Climate celebrating and exploring how we affect the world we live in; and Satan & Adam, a portrait of two people from different worlds who come together over the blues.

On Sunday, our curated films include the Academy Award-winning Heaven Is a Traffic Jam on the 405, the portrait of the indomitable artist Mindy Alper; Grandmother and Me, Immigrant, and Maybe, about personal identity; and Gloria’s Call and Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin in the aptly titled Art! Literature! Feminists! program.

We are grateful to all the filmmakers who have allowed us to share their work with us, and with you. Enjoy the show!
