SUBJECT: 1) Proposed Bicycle/Pedestrian Path 2) Modified Traffic Signal At Buchanan and Jackson St. Intersection
Buchanan Bicycle/Pedestrian Path
The City is preparing preliminary design plans for a future bicycle/ped path that extends along Marin Avenue, then west along Buchanan Street, between Cornell Avenue and the Buchanan Bridge over crossing (near Pierce Street). See map on the reverse of this flyer.
The project consultant has prepared several alternatives for each of the segments of the project. Some options being considered would affect existing trees and parking along the north and south sides of Marin Avenue and Buchanan Street. Notices are being sent to all residents along the proposed bike/pedestrian pathway.
Jackson/Buchanan Traffic Signal
Improvements are planned for this traffic signal to make it safer for children to cross. Part of the plan proposes a “dedicated left turn arrow.” Currently cars must yield to oncoming traffic to turn left. Adding a left turn lane on Jackson Street would require removal of some parking along Jackson Street.
Please come and meet with the project consultant and city staff to discuss these alternatives and provide your input. You are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
