It’s no surprise to you that girls that play sports have better standardized test results than non-athletes. Or that female athletes go on to earn 7% higher annual wages than their non-athlete peers. And sports also helps boost self-esteem. So the City of Albany is stepping up to the plate and encouraging girls to kick, run, shoot, and PLAY LIKE A GIRL!!
The Albany Recreation & Community Services Department presents the Play Like a Girl event, aimed at getting girls involved in sports in a fun and supportive environment! The City of Albany, Albany Unified School District and organizations from Albany, Berkeley, Oakland and beyond will be offering more than TWENTY different sports to try out. Each organization will offer hands-on activities so girls ages 2-17* can really experience each sport.
There will also be music, demonstrations, and fabulous raffle prizes including a FREE sports camp! So bring your sister, daughter, cousin, or neighbor - this fabulous event is for all girls both young and old!
