  • Introduction: The Parks & Recreation Commission will host a work session to discuss the Plaza Concept (Buchanan & Madison) from 7-7:45 pm. The regular meeting will start at 7:45 pm. The Commission agenda has 2 tree removal applications, street tree discussion and a Soda Tax Study Session update.

1.             CALL TO ORDER:

2.             APPROVAL OF ACTION MINUTES: October 12, 2017

3.             PUBLIC COMMENT

For persons desiring to address the Commission/Committee/Board on an item that is not on the agenda please note that each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. The Brown Act limits the Committee’s ability to take and/or discuss items that are not on the agenda; therefore, such items are normally referred to staff for comment or to a future agenda.

4.             ANNOUNCEMENTS/DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Ohlone Greenway Opening, Peggy Thomsen Pierce Street Park Update, Dartmouth Tot Lot Update

5.             PUBLIC HEARING/PRESENTATIONS:

5-1:     Street Tree Removal Application 944 Stannage Avenue: The Commission will review the street tree removal application for one (1) Camphor. This removal application was originally reviewed by the Commission on September 14, 2017. The Commission postponed their decision until more information about the sidewalk could be collected.

Recommended Action: That the Commission deny the street tree removal application submitted for
944 Stannage Avenue.

5-2:     Street Tree Removal Application 744 Pomona Avenue: The Commission will review the street tree removal application for one (1) Camphor.

Recommended Action: That the Commission approve the street tree removal application submitted for
744 Pomona Avenue.

6.             DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ITEMS ON MATTERS RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

6-1:     City Street Trees Roles and Responsibilities: The City’s Urban Forester will discuss roles and responsibilities for planting, maintaining and removing City Street Trees.

            Discussion Only.

6-2:    Street Tree List Sub-Committee: The Tree Planting List Sub-committee will report back to the Commission on their progress of updating the approved street tree list.

            Information Only.

6-3:     Soda Tax: Chair Chang Frank will give an update on the November 6th Council Study Session.

            Information Only.

7.             FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:

(Commissioners announce of requests for future agenda items. No public comment will be taken on announcement of future agenda items).
