California (not New York)
We can’t say this too often: Albany FilmFest is in Albany, California, not Albany New York. FYI, there are 37 Albanys worldwide. Ours could be possibly be the coolest.
Now at the Twin
Albany is at the heart of Northern California’s San Francisco Bay Area. Films screen at Landmark’s Albany Twin theater, a cool, deco-era two-screen theater in downtown Albany.
Community Visibility
We draw our audience from all over the Bay Area. The San Francisco Chronicle has featured us in its weekend events, and East Bay Express has repeatedly included us in its list of 5 Best Things to Do This Weekend.
Celebration on Solano Ave.
Albany FilmFest is supported by the City of Albany, local businesses, and community members, and run by a dedicated team of volunteers and city staff. We welcome film-goers of all ages. We try to keep our prices low so that everyone can attend.
Youth Media Education
Our proceeds go to support youth media education in Albany. We have two youth filmmaker categories, and our camps and classes encourage youth to explore and develop communication, storytelling, and creativity through film, video, and media.
The Popcorn!
Albany FilmFest is run by community volunteers. In the beginning, with very little funding, we knew we had to go the extra mile to ensure happy audiences. Who doesn’t like popcorn?
