bring e-waste! You MUST REGISTER HERE in order to participate in this event.
Can’t make this one-day event? You can bring your waste to one of the facilities in Hayward, Oakland or Livermore for FREE. All are open weekly with expanded hours.
THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS ARE ACCEPTED AT THIS EVENT AND AT ALL FACILITIES:
• Garden products: pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and sprays
• Paints and paint-related products: spray paint, stains, varnish, thinner, remover, and adhesives
• Household cleaners: bleach, solvents and sprays, acid and caustic cleaners
• Auto products: old fuel, motor/transmission oil, oil filters, waxes, polishes, additives, and batteries
• Powdered/uncured cement mortar, grout
• Propane tanks, fire extinguishers
• Photo and pool chemicals
• Fluorescent lamps and bulbs, thermostats and other items containing mercury
• Batteries
• Sharps – in approved sharps containers
• Microwaves
• Computers, monitors and printers
• Televisions, VCR/DVD/Blue Ray players, and digital and video cameras
• Cell phones, tablets, and MP3 players
• Radios, stereos and electronics
THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS ARE NOT ACCEPTED AT THIS EVENT NOR AT FACILITIES:
Appliances
Asbestos
Radioactive materials
Smoke detectors
Explosives
Railroad ties
Compressed gases other than propane
TIP: Products that are hazardous are usually labeled caution, warning, poison, danger, flammable, skin irritant, use in well-ventilated areas, etc. You can take asbestos, treated wood and railroad ties to Altamont Landfill for a fee. Note: Waste must be transported to any of the facilities by a resident of the Alameda County household that generated the waste. State regulations also limit the amount of waste being transported to 15 gallons of liquid waste content, or 125 lbs. of solid waste in containers no larger than 5 gallons or 50 lbs.
