Disaster Policy Advisory Group

Section 2-16 of the Albany Municipal Code outlines the duties and functions of the Disaster Policy Advisory Group. The Advisory Group assists the City Council in creating and enacted ordinances and regulations which are needed to facilitate the city's response to emergency situations. An example of their efforts might be a local and State Emergency proclamation, mutual aid agreements, or workers compensation benefits for volunteers.

The Disaster Policy Advisory Group consists of the following members: the Vice-Mayor (Chair), the Assistant Director of Emergency Services (Vice Chair), representatives from City Departments, two representatives from neighbor­hoods participat­ing in the City's neighborhood disaster preparedness program, representatives from the Albany Unified School District, and representatives from civic, community, and other organizations whose participation is deemed necessary or appropriate.
